Lesson 1
Suicide, Skittles and Skates by hafyouseenhaffy
A romance, teen fiction by hafyouseenhaffy.Beginning with the book cover, I think it was good but way too simple. Its intriguing yes, but could have been more better. Its a romance novel, so I think it could have been something more on the romantic lines.
With the prologue, I think it was very well written. A few mistakes, like in the first line, it should be sister's and not sisters and you've missed some commas as well but apart from these mistakes I think the story is really cute and original. I liked the mystery in the prologue and the romance that drips from it. In short, I loved it!
The chapter was great! I loved how you begin it just kind of drew me in and made me want to read even more. The flow is great and the details fill in the right times. The descriptions are good too and makes the scene even more clear in the reader's mind.
Yes, there are a few issues with punctuations and commas but your writing skill covers it up and they are hardly noticed. One more edit and I'm sure you'll be able to get rid of them. Your characters have a strong identity and base especially Alex. The amount of information you've displayed about him in the first chapter is enough for a reader to stick to your story till the end.
Overall, excellent story. Cute, mysterious, original and worth reading!

Clarity by JJJOAH
A non-teen fiction by JJJOAH
Beginning with the book cover I think it was very intriguing. Very thoughtfully crafted and chosen for the story. It actually makes the reader very curious.
The prologue was interesting, but I think the first sentence could be restructured. The word 'after' is used twice in the same sentence which makes it weird to read. Changing it to something like, 'After a rising singer is put on 'vacation', the tabloids trash her image with a scandal. She's given a bone by....' would be better and would help in the flow of the prologue. Overall, as I said, it was interesting and something different.
The chapter was well written. I liked the flow of the chapter. Its slow and takes the story forward step by step. The descriptions are good and so are the details but I would suggest writing them in more depth, it could be more useful.
There's one suggestion I would like to make. Don't make the dialogues bold. It catches the reader's attention quite quickly and the details and descriptions written don't matter much then. Just write them in plain simple text, if you want to highlight them make a new paragraph with every dialogue, plus that would make the paragraphs more shorter and easy to read.
There are no issues with the tense of the story, its continued in one tense and that's a good thing because people normally tend to mess up. Yes, but there are certainly some issues with commas, I know, they are difficult to deal with but I think getting an editor at this stage would be perfect.
Overall, it was great, different and very well written.
Keep writing and most important, enjoy it!
Remember we write for ourselves not for the world.

The Crippled God by imran_theauthor
An action novel by mran_theauthor
I loved the book cover. It was way too good and it suited the story very well.
The chapter was very well written. I loved how it is structured. It is very well thought out and you know what you are writing which always a good thing.
The thing is, people try and make something unique which either fails or turn out to be a major hit, your story falls in the second category. It is definitely successful in the creative and unique category.
The paragraphs are of perfect length, not too big and not too small. The grammar was good to,o though I think somewhere the sentences could be reformed but that depends from person to person. The prophecy was beautiful, gave chills! It was very thoughtfully written. good job there.
The punctuations were correct and the descriptions and details flow well with your story. Its like you know when, what is happening and the exact amount of quality to put in it. This is always a good sign for a successful story.
Overall, I would say fantastically written with good grammar and plot.

Another action story by imran_theauthor

The book cover is so simple yet so meaningful. It is beautifully made and chosen. I don't think any other cover would have suited well for the story.
Again the chapter was well written. Though it could have been perfect if the small errors were removed, like the use of commas, you missed some of them. The paragraphs could have been well structured too. Some of them are quite big in length. Like for example, paragraph 2 of chapter 2. It could be reduced in length for easier reading.
What I actually liked about the story is the extensive use of vocabulary and descriptions. The details couldn't have been more accurate. The words, details and descriptions actually keep the reader interested and the story worth reading.
Overall, excellent story. Again very creative and different.

Featherstone Grove by Zokatt
Featherstone Grove is a thriller, mystery book by Zokatt
The book cover was quite intriguing. I found it well suitable for the story. But I think the font could have been more better, more readable, but apart from that I liked it.
Wow! The prologue actually gave me chills. It was well written and the flow was pretty good as well. Just one mistake, in the fourth last paragraph the 'i' needs to be capitalized. Otherwise, it was great to read. The emotions were perfectly displayed, I almost felt them while reading. Good job there.
The chapter was good, there was ample amount of quality in it. I liked it. The descriptions and details flow well and so do the emotions No doubt about that! It was written way too good.
A few mistakes I would like to point out: The beginning of the chapter starts with, Once upon a time long ago; it cannot be both at the same time. Either it can be once upon a time or it can be long ago. Some of the paragraphs are way too big. Try to break them up into two's. For example the fifth paragraph can be broken into two. Start a new paragraph from 'I'd remembered that...' Small paragraphs present your story in a better way and makes it easier to read.
The punctuations are a bit messed up as well. I'll give you an example of how they should be. "Of course she is." Snarled the coarse haired woman. There should be a comma after is and the 's' should be lower case. Fix them up and the chapter will be rid of those punctuation errors.
I think the main character has a strong base which I really liked. It has a good foundation and you know what she is like which is a really good thing.
Overall, its very intriguing, well written and thought out story. All the best with the future chapters.

His Love Jasmine by Bree_Niah
A fanfiction by Bree_Niah
The cover was excellent. I loved it. The fonts were amazing and its quite creative as well. Good job there.
The prologue was a bit confusing. It doesn't give a clear picture about the characters. In the second line, I think the sentence could be reformed to make it more clear and easy to understand. Like for example: When Nina's closet (this should be closest) friend comes to tell her the truth about secrets that she's been hiding from her and her twin brother (What happens? Its not mentioned. The sentence directly continues to tell about Nick finding a mate.) So I think changing this would help in the better flow of the prologue. Also there should be a comma after 'she was his (,) he's ecstatic.
Moving over to the chapter I think it was good. A little bit rushed, meaning? Its going too fast. Its needs to be slowed down. Also going into more details would be good for the story. Like if you take the first scene where Nick lay in his bed, going into more details and descriptions about his thoughts would present a clear picture in the minds of the reader.
The punctuations were correct but there were some mistakes with commas. I know difficult aren't they? Even I face problems with them. Anyways just giving the chapter another edit will fix it.
Other thing, try breaking the huge paragraphs into two short ones. They are more easy to read and presents the chapter in a better way. Also try to make a new paragraph whenever there are new dialogues. Again as I said, its easier to read and distinguishes them from the other actions in the paragraph.
Overall, I think the plot was good and quite creative in itself. Well done. It has a great potential.

Still the One by MarieLotte
A romance non-teen fiction by MarieLotte
Beginning with the book cover I think it was good. Quite appealing and intriguing in a way. I love the fonts used and how they are placed. It was one of the most suitable covers I have seen.
The prologue could have been a little bit more elaborate. Also, the sentences could be reformed to have a better flow like taking out the 'wide' in the second sentence would help the reader to get a better picture. As I said, try and make it more clearer. Giving some more information about the story, plot or characters would be beneficial for the story. Like for example: giving a more background information as to why the world opposes their love or why they will face problems would be better.
Over to the first chapter, I think the beginning was very well written. I almost felt the emotions building as Amanda sat by Paul's bed in the hospital. It was really amazing to read. Further I think, introducing the character first and then moving over to the next sentence would help in the flow and make the scene more clear. Like for example: "A," she repeated and clapped her hands. At first I thought that was Amanda who did it but in the second sentence it was revealed that it was Susan. So it gets a bit unclear. Changing it to something like: "A," Susan repeated and clapped her hands, gives a more clear picture, then proceed to tell who Susan is.
Also, try breaking up the paragraphs with the dialogues. Whenever there's a dialogue make a new paragraph. It helps in the presentation and makes it more interesting and readable. Some of the paragraphs are too big as well. T
ry breaking them up into two's to solve the problem. The vocabulary used is quite wide and keeps the chapter interesting to read.
The descriptions are slightly mixed. It happens. When you're very excited about writing you end up messing it. Doesn't matter. I'll tell how to work on that.
Try imagining the scene in your mind. Visualize it. Let's for example take the first scene, where Amanda goes to visit Paul in the hospital.
Try to imagine how Amanda will behave, the thoughts going through her mind, how she is fidgeting with her dress, how her expression changes when she sees his eyes moving underneath his eye lids or how her feelings rise when his hands twitched.
Take one scene at a time and describe it completely. Don't leave it unfinished. Write down all the descriptions and details you could think of and then move over to the other scene and anyways you can always edit it.
I think overall, the story is very original and intriguing. It was great to read such a well written story.

Enigma by crystalflake34
Enigma is a fan fiction by crystalflake34Beginning with the book cover, I didn't find it that attractive. It could have been better, much better than what is there presently. I would make one more suggestion, try selecting those fonts which are more visible like Courier New or League Gothic.
Next thing is the prologue. it sounded interesting and it gave a detailed version of what the story is going to be like. Again I would like to make a suggestion. In the end, it is already revealed that MI6 has appointed Niall to kill Harry. But wasn't that supposed to be a secret? That's the entire point in mystery/Thriller stories right? So I think, changing it would be more preferable. It would even shock the readers when they come to know about it
Regarding the chapter, I think it was written very well. The sentence construction was nicely done. There was a flow to the chapter which I really liked. There are a few mistakes regarding grammar and use of some words, like for example in the second paragraph it's, 'slam someone in the stomach' but as far as I think, you don't slam but you punch them. Fixing these mistakes would make the story really good.
The details and thoughts are well connected as well but I would prefer writing into more detail. Personally, I like reading stories that has a detailed description of the scenes. So maybe doing this would benefit the story a lot. As I always suggest, visualizing the scene while writing helps a lot. Also, I would suggest shortening the length of the paragraphs. They are way too big, just making them into two separate paragraphs would solve the problem.
Overall, I think this story could be great if the small mistakes are rectified. It has a lot of potential to grow.

My little girl by berryexplosion

A horror, mystery thriller by berryexplosion.
Here's what I think.
I would say the book cover is kind of creepy, it really gives a sense of horror to the reader. But it could be more better than this. I could see the word Girl in it and I can only make out one thing, the cover doesn't fit the given size. I would suggest improving the current one or getting another one.
The prologue was good too, but it could be elaborate. Giving some more detail about Ivy and Heather would make the picture even more clear. Like for example, tell the reader what is the relationship between the two and what the situation about your story is going to be like. It will just add more flow to it.
Moving over to the chapter, it was written fairly well. It could have been bigger like two or three pages since its the first chapter. There are surely some issues with grammar like commas, punctuations and dialogue tags. Also, some words are repeated again and again, replacing them would make the chapter's flow even more better. For eg: The word 'anger.' It has been repeated quite few times. Replacing it with other words like temper would be better.
But other than these, it was good. Since it's just the beginning, I cannot say much on it. But it surely has the mystery thing in it.
Overall, I think this story has a lot of potential. It just needs to be polished.

The Midnight Werewolf by Middlemarch

A mystery thriller by Middlemarch.
Here's what I think.
The book cover could be more creative. Its simple enough but could be more mysterious. Adding a prologue to the story would be of great help to get readers for the story.
Okay, so I write in the Mystery/Thriller genre as well and when I started reading the first chapter I was a bit unsure. Why? Because its written in second person. Personally, I've never read stories in 'You' form because they never caught my attention. But it is different this time. This story stands out in the 'You' category. It written brilliantly with good descriptions.
The story actually made me shiver with excitement. I could feel the tension during the James scene. It was perfect.
The only thing is maybe, break the chapter into two? I found it to be big. But apart from these, I found no errors. It actually is a good thing because at the start of the chapter, the author's note says, 'Unedited.'
It written beautifully, with wide use of vocabulary, descriptions and details. The story draws the readers in and makes them a part of it.

Setting Free by ForeverAlways101
Setting Free, a teen fiction by ForeverAlways101
Here's what I think.
As always I'll begin with the cover. Its beautiful, actually beautiful. The fonts are amazing as well. Loved it.
The Prologue - I think it was good. But it needs a little improvement though. Polish it up maybe? For example: Avery, when she is found by the police in the parking lot, you could describe it in little more detail because it is obvious she would be crying. So I think a little more detail other than crying would add to the flow. Apart from this, I think it was a good prologue, unique and creative.
Moving over to the chapter I think the start was great. I loved Avery's interaction with her sister and how playful they were. Plus, it was written beautifully. The scene was quite imaginative and constructive.
But in the fourth paragraph, it is 'until she feel...' it should be 'felt' since the story is in past tense. The word, 'face' is also repeated twice in the same line. Prefer finding a synonym for it, so it does not sound repetitive. Other than these, I think the flow was great. The built of the chapter could have been more, like for two pages or something. I think it is too short for a first chapter, unless it could be renamed as prologue.
Improvements?
Here's what would suggest.
-Increase the length of the chapter. A bigger chapter with around 2000 words would be suitable. That would make around three pages of wattpad and six of Microsoft word.
-Also going into a little more detail would benefit the chapter a lot. Visualizing the scene, while writing helps a lot.
-A little more interaction between Avery and her mother would be good to read and it would add to the flow of the chapter. Since, she is her mother, she should be even more concerned about her daughter than what is displayed in the chapter.
-Proofreading before posting helps a lot. That is always a clue for improving.
Overall, good story. Little mistakes but worth reading.

Here's my critique:
The cover was interesting, I can't say much about it since the character is not thoroughly announced yet.
The prologue was very interesting and fascinating. There is a wide use of vocabulary through out the prologue and I could almost smell the tension and mystery in those short seven paragraphs.
The details and descriptions used are wonderful, it actually felt amazing to read and your idea seems original. The prologue gave just the right amount of information to a reader to start reading the story.
Just one change, shorten the length of the paragraphs. Just make them into two to solve the problem. Apart from this, I think it was very good especially the ending part. It was finished off perfectly.
Its definitely going to be a great story!

Adopting Blithe by cuteness145
Here's what I think:
The cutest cover ever. I loved it. Personally, I love covers which have a light effect, I don't know, but I just love those type of covers and this one is just perfect for the story. The font used is amazing as well!
Prologue was written well but it needs to be polished. For example: blithe - the starting word, the 'B' should be capital since its a name. The next change would be in the word 'hasnt.' It should be 'hasn't.' There should be an uppercase after a period. Apart from these, I think the idea of the story is good.
But it needs to be written carefully, since it has child abuse in it. I can tell how difficult it is, since the main character of my story was also a victim of child abuse. If taken good care of the character, I think it would be great to read.
Okay, on to the chapter now, I think it was well written. Believe me, when I say well written I mean it because your main character is five years old and I think the words used is perfect for a five year old.
But the story is going on a very fast pace. Meaning? Its going too fast. It needs to be slowed down, plus adding more description would help perfectly. Here are two tips to improve this.
-Try to visualize the scene as you write. Include all details and descriptions that you imagined. For eg: If your scene is in a shopping mall, describe how people are shopping or how they behave, something like that.
-Slow down the pace of the scenes. Personally I write only one scene in one chapter and continue it with the second one. Try doing this. Multiple scenes in one chapter confuses the reader, making them into two separate chapters will help.
Other errors are regarding capitalization, commas and punctuation marks. Once they are fixed, the story will become even more appealing and interesting.
Overall, its a unique story. I've read some fanfictions before but nothing sounded close to what cuteness 145 has written. It has a lot of potential to grow.

Skye of The Damned by FadeFatality
Skye of The Damned is a Paranormal, Fantasy story by FadeFatality.
Here is my critique for it.
Beginning with the book cover, it was good, but not that great. It definitely is appealing, but given the genre of the story, it could be more better than this. It has a great opportunity to be more mysterious.
The prologue was good, intriguing and appealing. I like the idea of how the demons and angels are introduced in the story. But I would like to point out a few mistakes, in the second line, its written something like this, ' Tokyo goes haywire as life as the know it collapses...' this is a bit unclear, the use of 'as' doesn't feel right here. Try changing it. Next thing I would like to point out is, in the second last line, there should be a comma after 'one thing.'
The chapters were written really well. The flow was good throughout the chapter, I'd say, it was maintained, much appreciated! The details of shoppers was necessary and you did well enough to include them. The other details and descriptions were good too, a bit mixed but fair enough!
There are some issues with commas and punctuations but apart from that it was interesting and had that mystery thing in it as well. I'm sure, once the story is proofread, its going to be free of all faults. The length of the chapters are good too.
Overall, I think it can be a great story.
